The Rotary Foundation
The Rotary Foundation is Rotary’s own charity. It is supported solely by contributions and donations from the public, Rotary members and friends of the Foundation. The equivalent of $3 billion has been raised towards life changing, sustainable projects around the world.
The Rotary Foundation of the United Kingdom arm provides funding for its programmes within Great Britain and Ireland.
Examples of the Foundations projects include providing clean water.
Running water is something we often take for granted. Did you know that 1 in 10 persons worldwide do not have access to clean water from a tap. Another stark fact is that 1 in 3 persons worldwide do not have access to adequate toilet facilities.
Rotary is committed to a sustainable approach to sanitation and hygiene education.
Rotary inspired charity “Aquabox” has sent more than 110,000 humanitarian aid boxes offering water filtration systems to disaster zones around the world.
Another example of our projects supports education. There are 250 million children that do not have basis reading or maths skills.
17% of the world population are illiterate. That is 775 million people.
Rotary Foundation has provided new school builds, books and computers and even provided resources to train teachers.
